According to a new study, you’re more likely to get your driving licence depending on the day you book your practical driving test. There’s even a specific weekend in the year where test pass rates see a surge. Find out which days and times are best to take your practical driving test.
The study, carried out by Confused.com, analysed pass rates to find out which day and time slot gives learner drivers the best chance of passing the practical driving test, and the results are in!
According to the study’s findings, if you take your practical test on a Monday, you stand a high chance of passing. 47 per cent of learner drivers taking their exam on Monday were successful compared with the worst day, Sunday, when 45 per cent of candidates pass the test.
The TIME You Take Your Practical Driving Test is Most Important
Although there are good days to take your test, the study found that your test time slot makes the biggest difference to whether you will pass your practical exam or not. According to the study, if you take your practical driving test between the hours of 3pm and 4pm, you’re more likely to pass.
However, if you take to the driver’s seat between 7am and 8am, you’re more likely to fail.
Pass Rates Surge First Weekend of August
The study found that a specific date sees a higher pass rate than the rest of the year. The first Saturday in August has a higher success percentage than any other day in the year, with a 50.33 per cent pass rate!
However, if you take your practical driving test on Boxing Day (26 December), your chances of passing are reduced. Boxing Day has a pass percentage rate of just 39 per cent.
Motoring editor at Confused.com. Amanda Stretton, said: “Taking a driving test, be it for the first or fifth time, is always a daunting experience for learner drivers. So, we have tried to take the pressure off a little bit by creating an interactive calendar which helps learners to identify the best date, month and time to book their driving test.”
“There is a myth that examiners only pass a certain number of students on one day, but this calendar proves that this isn’t the case. There are clearly other factors that learners may need to consider when it comes to booking their test.
