Motorists learning to drive could be boosted by plans to reduce the cost of the driving theory test<\/b>. An announcement was recently made by Transport Minister, Stephen Hammond, unveiling the plans to cut the cost of the theory test<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The proposal, which is contained in a public consultation on alterations to theory test fees,<\/b> looks set to save learner drivers an estimated \u00c2\u00a3100 million over the course of nine years.<\/p>\n
Should the plans be implemented the cost of the driving theory test<\/b> in Britain would be reduced by \u00c2\u00a36 in October 2014. The current cost of a theory test<\/b> is \u00c2\u00a331 and, with the reduction, will drop to \u00c2\u00a325.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, there are plans to reduce the cost of the theory test<\/b> by another \u00c2\u00a32 in October 2015, bringing the price down to just \u00c2\u00a323.<\/p>\n
In a statement from Stephen Hammond, he said: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We are determined to keep motoring costs down, so we want to make sure theory tests <\/b>offer the best value for money while continuing to meet rigorous standards.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
He added: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The theory test<\/b> plays a vital role in making sure that new drivers know the Highway Code and the rules of the road and this announcement shows we are determined to provide cost-effective services that keep our roads among the safest in the world.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
In a statement from Alistair Peoples, Chief Executive of the newly formed DVSA, he said: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153By agreeing new contract arrangements for the delivery of theory tests<\/b>, we have secured significant cost savings, and it is right that we pass these savings on to our customers.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
He added: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We want to make sure that we continue to keep pace with customers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 needs and deliver services in a way which is both convenient and cost effective.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
The recently launched consultation also reveals plans to reduce the cost of the motorcycle theory test, bus theory test and lorry theory test.<\/b><\/p>\n
