You\u2019ve passed your driving theory test and you\u2019ve passed your practical driving exam, but you would like to increase your confidence as a motorist! Many new drivers opt for Pass Plus, but is there a Pass Plus theory test you have to take as part of your advanced training?<\/p>\n

The good news is, you don\u2019t have to take a Pass Plus theory test and there\u2019s no practical driving test <\/strong><\/a>either. However, you will be assessed throughout the Pass Plus course.<\/p>\n

How does Pass Plus work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Conducted over 6 hours, across 6 modules lasting 1 hour each, Pass Plus driver training covers a number of driving scenarios, some of which will not have been covered by taking standard driving lessons or as part of your practical driving test.<\/p>\n

While you may have answered a number of driving theory test questions, and practiced driving in certain conditions, Pass Plus helps to enhance your skills when going solo as a new driver. For example, although learner drivers can now drive on the motorways as part of a driving lesson, it\u2019s done under supervision.<\/p>\n

Driving on a motorway without guidance is a totally different experience, but Pass Plus exists to prepare you for a lifetime of safe motorway driving and more.<\/p>\n

The benefits of Pass Plus<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pass Plus driver training has many benefits, one of which is improving your driving skills and increasing your confidence in areas such as:<\/p>\n

Plus, you don\u2019t have to take a Pass Plus theory test or practical exam to boost your skills.<\/p>\n

Another benefit is that car insurers look favourably upon drivers who hold Pass Plus certification. This is particularly beneficial if you\u2019re a young motorist, as this helps to cut the cost of your insurance premiums when insuring your first vehicle. Simply holding a UK theory test<\/strong><\/a> certificate and a full driving licence will not shield you from high insurance premiums as a young motorist that\u2019s why the Pass Plus programme is a good option for young, new motorists.<\/p>\n

What can you expect from the Pass Plus programme?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The majority of Pass Plus sessions should be practical, however, local conditions may dictate that some modules are theory based, but you will typically spend around 5.5 hours driving.<\/p>\n

In order to complete the course successfully, you will be required to reach the standards set out in the modules. If successful, you will be issued with a Pass Plus certificate. Your Pass Plus certificate will be required when you come to insure your vehicle in order to receive a car insurance discount.<\/p>\n

The DVSA describes the Pass Plus scheme as \u2018a great initiative that\u2019s beneficial to all motorists, but especially drivers aged 17-24.
