Step Four \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Seat Belts <\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u201c What needs to be checked<\/strong>?<\/span><\/h2>\n

By law, drivers and passengers must be wearing a <\/span>seat belt, unless there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a medical reason that makes a person exempt, for which proof would need to be provided. The responsibility for the wearing of seat belts rests with the driver to make sure that passengers aged 14 or under are either wearing a seat belt or secured in a car seat.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the DVSA practical driving test<\/strong><\/a> or on the road proper, motorists are legally entitled to remove a seat belt when reversing, as seat belts can impede a driver\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ability to move in their seat and carry out an all-round observational check. However, the seat belt should be reapplied as soon as a reversing manoeuvre has been completed and before moving off.<\/span><\/p>\n

Check your seat belt is correctly clicked in place, then you need to make sure that the belt is not twisted in any way as this will reduce its effectiveness should you be involved in an accident.<\/span><\/p>\n
